Submission day for tape, if not submitted which we have, and script/storyboard is today.
Everything basically is in order and so, we're meeting later to submit and skip all the way home in happiness and joy that the block has ended. The block and freshmen year has ended which is quite bitter sweet because freshmen year has been fun.
I suppose, this last post is solely for reflection purposes and I shall delve deep into my soul and reflect on the past two months that MOI project one has spanned across. The reason I'm doing this now even though submission of journal is on Monday is because I don't want to procrastinate over the weekends and end up rushing through a meaningless entry and end with a negative impact. Since I have the drive and feel to reflect now, I shall not deny myself.
Project one started over two months ago and going into this was quite daunting because we were going into unknown territory. But what made it good was that we went into unchartered waters together and that was what made it slightly exciting. The task given to us sounded quite fun but the first problem that came to my mind was that it would be difficult coming up with an idea and concept of the video.
With our group formed, I remember we went straight into brainstorming and came up with a concept a few days later. We went into production and faced numerous problems that forced us to change our concept a few weeks later. Not being discouraged, we worked through our sudden letdown and emerged with a more determined spirit.
Working in a group will obviously have it's ups and downs. Conflict, miscommunication, petty fights are pretty much common in our group but we also had fun, subway feasts and more fun. It opened my eyes to a lot of things that I might face in the future but it's a learning experience so it doesn't deter me from anything.
I learnt a lot during these two months. I found out that I sort of enjoy editing. I think it's the most tedious part, especially with computers that lag, but it's quite enjoyable when you get the hang of it.
Yes, project one might have come to an end but this is really something memorable that will stay with us. The fact that most of us are friends made it better.
There are a lot of people that I'd like to thank and they know who they are.
So, I shall bid goodbye to this blog and then let out a gigantic sigh of relief.
BYE!

day-almost-there
It was the day.
MOI project 1 gala premiere.
Press to Exit arrived at 12.15pm at the LT which, considering the other groups, weren't so bad.
We were one of the first few who were early, so kudos to us.
Anyway, we started at around 1pm due to no-one being at the LT. Sad, I know. Ronald's class went first then Alfie's then Wahidah's so our group was one of the last. I really had fun watching the other group's videos. They were all entertaining and amusing and I laughed so much.
I laughed particularly hard when Andrea's group from Alfie's class cast Joel to be some professor that was being interviewed. I think he did a very good job playing the aloof, mad, slightly mental professor. The inspiration was probably what made it work. But good job to Joel.
Still in character, that boy opened for our group and we showed our video. I thought it was pretty good, especially the audio. As in, our voices were audible even when there was a heck load of background noise.
Oh yes, and before that, we did peer evaluation which I shall not disclose here but I'm pretty sure we all know how we fared.
We left the LT at the end of everything feeling uplifted and elated and like a burden that has been lifted off our already hunched shoulders. Needless to say, a little celebrating was in order.
And so, we celebrated till the wee hours of the next day.

day twenty-nine
We are currently waiting for our video to render and to record on tape.
The rendering time, as of now, is 1 hour, 2 minutes with 4200 of 19034 frames rendered.
Like, omg. I thought we'd be fast today.

day twenty-eight ooo
Okay, so day twenty-eight is actually yesterday.
Anyway, we carried on editing our video and we met at mine. We started at around noon and only finished 12 hours later.
We were doing subtitles with a lagging computer and stopped for 10 minute breaks for lunch and dinner. Subtitles done, we had to compile our works to show in the credits. Then, we had to find a suitable song for the credit itself.
A whole lot to do and a whole lot we got done.
And the whole day, I was being bombarded by text messages. Like, give up already.

Saturday
Saturday was spent at my place editing the video.
We met bright and early, wanting to get our video over and done with. We met in school and tried to open the project file that was in Joel's ipod. But the project file couldn't open because the premiere version in my computer is CS3 and the school's one was, ah well, different. We trekked back to my place and spent the whole of our afternoon and early evening editing our video.
We finished at around 8pm and, ho-hums, went to Kez to unwind.

day twenty-eight or just a normal fri-day
I don't know if today is part of the [number_day] or just an extra day that we came back. haha. I think I don't make sense. Anyway, we came down today because Wahidah wanted to see our progress of the video. We had to retake the 2D scene and also take the outro sequence which took about 2 days to shoot.
Anyway, we showed Wahidah the video and she seemed pretty okay with it. Our problem now is shortening whatever parts we can shorten so that the video fits 10 minutes.
Oddly, I'm rapidly losing my patience which is quite crappy. The reasons span out to many different things which I shall not elaborate on.
Anyway, going back tomorrow to edit the video on premiere.
Hardworking group, that's us. ya ya ya ya.

day twenty-seven
We were all late today because of the heavy rain. We were all stuck.
It's been raining so much lately, it's quite troublesome, yeah, but it's been quite nice as well. The torturous part would be waking up to the perfect 'sleep-in' weather everyday.
Anyway, we met and Joel kindly borrowed the camera when we arrived. We slacked for a bit because i was uploading the video we took yesterday into my computer. Then we slacked some more before going to shoot our outro scene.
Andreas from the other group kindly helped by being our cameraman. We took some time deciding what we were gonna say and how the camera was supposed to move but we finally got through it.
So, now, there's only editing left.
yippee.

day twenty-six
It was raining today and I wanted, like, really, really wanted to sleep-in but there was work to do so we persevered.
We met up in the 2D lab and shot 2D art fundamentals again because our first one had a very obvious cut and we didn't really showcase the works we wanted to showcase.
Anyway, it took about half an hour to shoot then we left for lunch. Itas was closed, which is a bummer because I had a craving for Yong Tau Foo. We trekked back to the design canteen and I had the food at the malay store.
Yes, there is trouble with the firewire so I can't upload anything now.Gotta borrow someone else's camera tomorrow.
Kezzy was tall today.

day twenty-five
Today was interim assessment 2.
We had a few problems uploading the video because we didn't have any device that had enough space. Thankfully, Joel has his ipod which can hold 30gig. So, anyway, we went to class but before that, we got caught in the rain. My shoes and socks are still wet.
The first group that presented was Snap and theirs was really, really, really good. They have quite a bit of visual effects which was visually stimulating.
Ours went and we came across certain problems that are fixable.
I went for class after that, I was already late because we were waiting for a group to show their video. Anyway, it was quite annoying.
Joel and Kez are dubbing the video now, thank goodness. Really tired from last night's editing.
We gotta reshoot a couple of scenes. No harm done!

day twenty-four
Today was all about editing and realising certain mistakes and panicking because we've over-exceeded the time, again. We're not that long-winded...
So, we took a very long time picking out the song for our intro. We settled on a song that Joel and I thought was nice with violent opposition from Kez. haha.
So, yeah, that's basically it.

Fri-day yet again
We met today with the intention of shooting our credit thing today. We shot it at the Auditorium which we thought was a oretty good place. We wanted to find a place with curtains and a stage but everything was locked so, hmmm, beggars can't be choosers.
We did Oscar style because Oscar is our new found family friend, as I've said before.
Anyway, it was a pretty short shoot but just in time for me to get to class.
Meeting at the Lt later so gotta leave early and that's basically it.

day twenty-three
Today, we met at, supposdly 10 am, but it was raining and the weather and bed was very soothing. Kez was early. She deserves Oscar now, Joel.
Anyway, Joel and I were late and when we reached, we went to shoot our 2D art sequence in the 5th floor studio. It took more time preparing the stuff, like Kezia had to prepare and draw her sketches and soft pastel her works, etc. We took about 3 takes and then left for lunch because human beings need food in their stomach to survive the day.
I went for class straight after lunch because class starts really early and I didn't want to miss out on anything. The rest met me in the class where I had class. So, while I was doing the class activities, they were filling their minds with knowledge from the web.
We've yet to shoot the 3D sequence cause we're waiting for the evening light because the window's light was too bright hence making it overexposed. I think this post has many grammatical errors and as many run-on sentences. Blah.
Joel and I want to write several short stories and Kez wants to illustrate said stories for us. This topic came up because we were talking abut typewriters and how we can buy them on ebay.com.sg. Hah.
Okay, ya. I'm really flustered because i stupidedly became ambitious and now am stuck with 9 pages of my website to complete. Uh-oh.
Thank goodness for Dreamweaver at home. HAHA.

day twenty-two
Our initial plan for today was to shoot the 2D sequence for our video. However, most of us got up late and, I know we suck for that , Joel and I wanted to see how the video was going to be pasted together. We went to the 2D lab where our files were but the computers were all taken. There was a presentation in the 3D lab so that was out of bounds so we went up to the 6th floor where we had our photography module.
The lab was hot and stuffy but there were computers available. All too soon, a class was going to start. Actually, that classroom was meant to be for my mmfund class but we changed class again due to something unknown. So now, Joel is in that lab, Kez is around school doing good deeds and I have no idea where the fourth member is.
So yeah, I think today was a waste , really. Oops. How horrible.
And we can't shoot tonight cause we're all busy and have something on. So yeah.

day twenty-one
Lets see.
We met and had a subway feast again. Well, I had to cookies but that's counted too.
I don't know if I should be pissed about Natalya's temper tantrum because I've come to the point of not caring. Like, do whatever you want, don't expect me to play nice kind of attitude. I mean, since I'm just wasting her time, right?
Anyway, whatever, she was out sick yesterday so Joel, Kez and I discussed about how we're going to better my photography sequence. We thought it would be nice to have a nice scenery so we went down to Boat Quay again. We faced a little bit of trouble setting up shop. The sky, in the first place, was too blah, which means overexposure. The first time we set up the camera was near the road because the framing was good but the cars and buses and stuff kept coming in so we had to stop a couple of times. The second place we went was near the river but some unnatural-walking actress/model was already there rehearsing her scene. The third place we went was, ah, near the road. Then, the unnatural-walking person left because the mediacorp van has arrived so their first scene was somewhere else. So we quickly settled down by the river.
Just as we finished, the whole crew came back with their high-life camera and sound equipments but, hah, those don't mean anything because 'Once' was shot with two handy-cams and completed in 3 weeks and they won best original song at the Oscars.
There.

day twenty
Kez was asking me why I continued counting the days, as in, day twenty and not day five of block 2. Let me tell you why...
Anyway, we shot the introduction scene yesterday. Not much things we had to do, really. Because we showed Wahidah our new video and she was talking to us and suggesting some things which was very helpful. We already shot our individual scenes and apparently, mine was the only one which was problematic. Not me, okay. But the venue and how it's relevant and how i'm going to showcase photography without confusing the audience.
Gary was a very nice cameraman. He helped shoot our intro scene. He gets an imaginary Oscar for that.
Yup, so that's about it really.
And I don't know why.
